Stella wakes up the next morning and finds her check to Michael, believing that he left it behind out of pity. This enrages her and she intentionally gets ready without following her usual pattern. She plays her piano violently and realizes it needs tuning. Michael goes into the family business and tries to sketch clothing designs but winds up drawing Stella.
